When it comes to ministry here at Wildside, we have a simple formula that we have seen work over and over and over again. Here it is:
A CARING ADULT + A JR HIGH STUDENT = GOOD STUFF
That’s it. It’s not magic, and it’s certainly not algebraic. We know that when a caring adult is involved in the life of a junior high student(s), good stuff happens. Will you consider being one of those caring adults? Our team would love to have you join us! We have three primary roles that allow for various levels of involvement: (1) Life Group Leaders, (2) Weekend Leaders, and (3) Special Event Leaders. If you are interested in leading, click HERE to print and fill out a volunteer leader form. Once you have completed the form, turn it in to Ministry Office 2 or the Refinery. Email Megan at email@example.com if you have any more questions.
A Life Group leader is a Wildside small group leader. Life Groups meet once a week throughout the school year, in homes, usually on Tuesday or Wednesday nights for about an hour and a half, and are comprised of Bible study, relational connection, games, prayer time, etc. A typical group is made up of 10 students (grade and gender specific) and 2 leaders who co-lead the group each week. Curriculum for the Bible studies is provided as well as small group leader training before groups launch and on-going training throughout the year. REQUIREMENTS: You must be a senior in high school or older to lead or co-lead a Life Group.
Weekend leaders serve at one or more of Wildside’s weekend services. Responsibilities include sitting with students, showing enthusiasm for the weekend program, and leading a Grade Group. Grade Groups are small groups that meet for about 10 minutes during the service. The primary purpose of Grade Groups is to ensure each and every student who attends the weekend service has at least one personal connection with other students and an adult leader. REQUIREMENTS: You must be a junior in high school or older to be a weekend leader.
Wildside puts on events for jr. high students all throughout the year, from Dodgeball Tournaments to Beach Days to Summer Camp and many, many more. Special Events Leaders serve at these events in many different capacities, such as set-up, tear-down, hanging out with students, shopping for needed resources, etc. REQUIREMENTS: You must be a senior in high school or older to be a Summer Camp leader. For all other events, you must be a junior in high school or older.
